Blog #7

Well I couldn't really think of anything to write about so I went to MSN for some type of inspiration. The first thing I saw was an article about Michael Jackson. I absolutely adore Michael Jackson as a musician. I think he is one of the best musical talents in history. I mean, technically speaking, he is. He still holds the record of having the best selling album in the world, and this album was released almost three decades ago. Nobody has come CLOSE to competing with selling 100 million copies (the closest have been The Eagles with an astounding, yet paradoxically meager, 42 million). Michael has been a major pioneer of many modern genres of music, from rock to pop to R&B, and his influence even expounds to Broadway. When I logged on to MSN, the first thing I saw was that Thriller (whether the album or single, I'm not exactly sure) is coming to Broadway. That would be the most amazing thing; I'd pay any amount to see that performance, especially since Michael himself is supposed to have a hand in its production. I'm a HUGE Michael Jackson fan; his abilities as an artist, performer, and musician are extraordinary. How his image has been damaged behind the scandals doesn't affect my opinion of his music. It includes some of the most incredible pieces of work I've ever heard in my life, and believe me I listen to A LOT of different music, not just the typical R&B and Hip-Hop. By far, though, Michael Jackson is one of the best ever. Since I probably won't ever have the privilege of seeing him perform live, I hope this Broadway performance comes to Jacksonville so I can at least witness the reinactment first hand.
